Learn more about the therapy I offer . . .
Individual Therapy
I love working with clients to better explore themselves and their lives, and to help them get to where they want to go. I strive to be a warm, kind, compassionate presence who meets you where you’re at—no matter what you’re bringing into therapy that day. You are always welcome just as you are.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of people, and I have specialized skills in the following areas:
women’s needs
LGBTQ+
teens and young adults
those who have experienced serious trauma
self-compassion and mindfulness
creative individuals
Trans-Affirming Therapy
I am here to make my trans clients feel seen, understood, and truly supported in their journeys. I understand the huge importance of having a therapist who really gets you and your needs, and for countless trans people I have been that person.
I have deep knowledge of the trans community: I have worked in trans mental health for nearly ten years, and I frequently present on therapeutic best practices for trans clients, as well as write about trans culture and mental health for a variety of venues.
I prioritize providing a safe space to explore and to be heard. I know just how essential that is to give you a space where you’re comfortable to bring your whole self.
Couples Therapy
To couples therapy I bring years of experience, a love of facilitating discovery, growth, and development in relationships, and an ability to help bridge communication gaps and learn communication skills.
I strive to give my couples clients the opportunity to really hear and see one another like never before, and to learn the patterns that lead to familiar fights and seemingly inevitable escalations. Together we work to bring change into these well-worn patterns bit by bit, and over time substantial change comes about.
I bring a combination of emotionally focused therapy, the Gottman Method, and narrative/depth psychology to help couples build the skills for success while also finding out more about who they are and what makes this bond so special.
Therapy for Creative People
As a writer and a journalist who has covered the arts for two decades, I know worlds of art and literature inside and out. I love to bring this knowledge into the therapy room to help artists, writers, and others learn more about their creative selves, take the next step in their careers, and get through creative blocks.
Book Me to Speak at Your Organization or Write Something for You
I have extensive experience presenting on various mental health topics throughout the Bay Area and in various parts of the United States. I love offering creative, dynamic, fun, and highly informative presentations to groups of therapists and laypeople alike.
I also have written for dozens of publications, including The Guardian, the Los Angeles Times, NPR, and many more. I also frequently publish in-depth articles on various facets of mental health. I also have advanced skills in marketing writing, including helping clinicians craft their online profile.
I’m always available to talk more about partnering on a presentation for your organization. Im also excited to explore a writing project—whether it’s writing for your publication or helping get the text on your therapy website just right.
My base fee for therapy is $215 for individual work and $240 for couples. Occasionally I do have sliding scale slots open up—if you are in need of a reduced fee, inquire to see if one is available.
Per the No Surprises Act, the State of California requires me to notify you of the right to have a Good Faith Estimate to estimate of the cost of therapy before beginning services. I am committed to having a conversation about the costs of therapy so that you will be informed.
